Yesterday we attended Dan and Rachel's wedding and what a beautiful one it was. What made it so special is this couple are very serious about their Catholic Faith. They not only talk the talk they walk the walk! Get this they did not sleep together or live together before they got married. Can you imagine that in this day and age! They did cause quite the scandal however. You see they are only 20 and 21 and have not yet finished college. They actually got some hassle and so did their parents. Finally Rachel's mom responded by asking people what would they say if they were living together? Sadly most people wouldn't say anything in this day and age. This young couple are doing the morally responsible thing and they are the ones who get talked about! Can you believe we have come to this! I know when Charlie and I went through our marriage prep classes it was so obvious by the way the couples were talking they were all shacking up and not even ashamed about it.
OK back to yesterday. It was such a joy to truly celebrate with a young couple who knew the seriousness and the meaning of the Holy sacrament . I met Rachel over two years ago when I asked her to speak at one of the Middle school over nights on chastity and we remained friends. She is a young women of strong faith and even broke up with a guy she really liked because he didn't share her faith convictions. Dan her now husband is the oldest of seven kids and was home schooled by his Catholic parents.
To all the single girls out there your faithfulness matters. Do you want a Holy husband than be holy! God is faithful and the thing he cares most about is your salvation. Marriage is not easy and even the holiest couples struggle after all men and women are different! That's why we need Holy Christian couples whom we can seek advice from. This couple is so blessed because they both have supportive Holy parents! Again I will end with saying how joyful this wedding was, I teared up several times because I was so blessed to know this faithful couple. Couples like this give me hope for our future!
