HOLY WEEK BEGINS

So my dear friends we have begun Holy Week with Passion Sunday! Note how all the people greeted him like a King! They treated him like a Rock Star or a movie star. But that soon changes and they all betray him except of course Mary his mother, and a few other women and John the beloved disciple. Peter denied him three times. I recently showed a clip to my 7th grade girls from the movie "Jesus of Nazareth" showing Jesus meeting Peter! What a loud and rough around the edges kind of guy! Just like all of us! It's easy to follow Jesus when everything goes well in our lives. But what happens when life isn't so easy? Are we willing to follow Jesus to the Cross? Are we willing to be mocked by society? Are we willing to lay down our life for Jesus and His Church? What kind of Christian are we? It's the difficult times in life that really define us. Are we going to run away like most people and hide? Or are we going to be like Jesus' mother, Mary and his beloved disciple John? There is always hope for us! Jesus gave Peter a second chance! And Peter said yes! Unlike Judas who gave into despair and killed himself! Jesus even made Peter the head of His Church. He became the first Pope. I will talk later about what happens after the Ascension and Jesus sending down the third person of the Trinity, The Holy Spirit.

So my friends let us walk this week with our Lord and enter into the mystery of the cross. (Tuesday is my niece Anna's Birthday so I will do a little piece on her!)
