ENJOYING MICHIGAN

Charlie and I had a wonderful  three days up north.  We really are blessed to live in such a beautiful state............granted we have to travel to see the beauty but it is there!  We went up on Sunday and got a hotel in St.Ignace.  It had a Casino package.  We each got $10 in tokens and a $5 voucher for food at the restaurant at the Casino.

We don't gamble but felt an obligation of course to at least use the tokens.  We each got an additional ten dollars for signing up as members. Well we used our tokens and walked away with $39 which bought us our dinner!

On Monday we started out with breakfast at Java Joes.  Joe is a liberal from the 60's!  We talked a little  about politics but not much because I informed him that  I've given it up!!!  It just stresses me out too much.  I told him I fear for our country but  I trust the Lord and KNOW He is in control.  When I walked in I said I'm your Republican friend.  He said he didn't know he had any Republican friends:)  This man is friends with Michale Moore!  If you ever get to St.Ignace you must eat at Java Joes!  It's a wonderful quaint little restaurant..

From there we went to Mackinac Island.  I so love that island!  There are no cars allowed on the island.  One can only get around with bikes, or horse drawn carriages.  You really feel you have gone back in time.  In the early 80's Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymour  filmed the Movie, Somewhere in Time .  If you have not seen it you really must it is a classic!  Just after Charlie and I got engaged we were on the island during  the Lilac Festival and we got to see the movie shown in the very theater where they did allot of the filming..............it was too cool!

We went in to St. Ann's Catholic Church.  What a beautiful church!  They have a huge painting of St.Ann (Mary's Mother) with Mary and Jesus as an infant on the ceiling  Little children can so relate to Jesus having a grandma!  We were leaving when I real the sign that said daily mass at 11 am only 15 minutes away.  So I stayed for mass and what a blessing that was!  I offered up the mass and prayed the whole time for my dear friend Annette.  God is so good!
We were taking a walk and I recognized  a lady from St.Johns sitting on the porch of one of the Bread and
Breakfast'.  Her name is Peg and she and her husband were celebrating there 35th Wedding Anniversary.  He surprised her with a trip to the island.  Now that is way to cool!  What a wonderful wedding anniversary gift!  We had a wonderful relaxing time on the Island
Today when we checked out of the motel they gave us more vouchers!  So we went back to the Casino to cash in!  We used our $20.00 in  vouchers and had lunch at the Casio.  I used my $10 voucher in tokens and won $l4.75.  Charlie won $4 with his.  In total we won almost $60 without spending a dime.........not bad!  We had a very nice get away reconnecting with each other.  So thankful I have such a good and thoughtful husband!

Oh I can't forge that we climb up Castle Rock!  Boy is that quite the work out!  The last time I did that was in 1987 with my mom,Linda and Brenda!  I can't believe we had to pay $1 for so much work:)  I guess I'm more out of shape then I realize:_
