RETREAT WITH THE DOMINICAN SISTERS OF MARY, MOTHER OF THE EUCHARIST

What a packed 25 hours at the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist retreat!  These women are amazing!  They are so full of joy and so real and honest.  They were so welcoming!  They especially honored the mothers and the gift that they are to the world.  Of course they pointed out that some of us may not be mom's physically but spiritually.  In all reality we are all called to be impregnated with Christ and to bring him to the world.

As women we have so much power for good or evil.  It is so true that the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world.  As I use to tell the girls I taught we can either be an Eve and lead others into sin or be a Mary and lead others to Jesus.  God trusted a women to bring his only son into the world.  Mary our mother wants a personal relationship with each of her children.  What is a family without a mother?  A mother is the heart of the home.

As I watched all the mothers, there were 18 babies! I thought of how Mary nurtured Jesus.
She taught him to walk, and talk and was there when he was nailed to the cross.  This women who taught Jesus so much wants to teach us how to love Jesus!  God so trusted this women to give her His only begotten son! So why shouldn't we too trust her?

Mother Mary Assumpta was supposed to give the first talk but she got held up at EWTN where she was giving the staff a day retreat.  So instead they showed us the recent Oprah show that they were featured on.  I had not had the chance to watch it so it was fun to watch it with some of the sisters.

They said Oprah really likes them!  She met with them before the taping of the show and talked with them afterwords, which she never does.  They invited her to their convent for a visit and she said she would come.  Let's pray that she finds time to do this.  Oprah is a great person and is into alot of different spirituality's.  She is searching how wonderful it would be if she surrendered her life to Jesus Christ!

The sisters pray for Oprah every day.  They gave her a rosary and she told them that before making any big decisions, she holds the rosary in her hands.  It's a start!

Fr. John Riccardo gave us a talk on Saturday night and said mass for us on Sunday a the mother house.  He is an amazing speaker and priest.  I want to share more of what he said but I will save that for another post.
