KELLY MAKES HER FIRST COMMUNION
Last night our niece Kelly made her First Communion! She was all smiles. She also was one of the three children selected to bring up the gifts. The whole Burns extended family was able to attend her special mass. Chris' mom and brother and his family also attended. Katie and her Prom date Matt even joined us.
We then returned to Brenda and Chris's where Brenda put on quite the dinner! Kelly got a lot of nice gifts. Aunt Linda is her Godmother and she got her a prayer book with a rosary and a First Communion Bible. Uncle Charlie is her Godfather and we got her a St.Therese statue (that was the one she requested). A journal, a little book on Lourdes and the Rosary and a rosary with medal that I had picked up the last time I went to Rome.
In the picture above you will see Kelly and her cousin Dana holding a picture together. Dana and Kelly share the same great Grandma on our side of the family. The picture is a certificate that belonged to our Grandma Fox who made her First Communion on April 17th 1911! My grandma had it in a frame and held on to it and passed it on to my mom.
Dana will be making her First Communion next week. One of the gifts I gave her was a picture of her grandmother in her First communion dress. Dana's grandma was my Godmother who passed away last March. My Aunt Toots was so looking forward to Dana's First Communion and was going to buy her her First Communion dress. They had even begun looking for a dress the two of them could agree upon:) Though she will not physically be here, just like my mom, we know both of them will be present in the Communion of the Saints each time they go to mass and celebrate the Eucharist!
Kelly was so excited about receiving Jesus last night that she asked her mom to take her to mass again this morning. So she Brenda and Katie went to the 10am mass. Kelly was still all smiles when we had lunch with them at Taco Bell!
